GRAN VÍA, SOL, MADRID

Interior design and construction management of project of cafeteria, restaurant and service areas.

COMMISSION

The client was looking for an update to the hospitality areas that served a consolidated social centre located on Gran Vía, the nerve centre of Madrid, seeking to provide them with a more contemporary spirit through specific interventions that would refresh the image of the new management of the spaces.

PROPOSAL

The solution adopted was premised on a limited budget and a building with heritage value, so it focused on vertical and horizontal walls of colour, textures and unique furniture to accentuate spotlights within each intervened room.
Act 0 Lobby.

Common use space of the centre in which loose pieces of furniture, pots with plants are proposed on the scale of the central space of the skylight and lighting for the wall of the entrances to the cafeteria from the covered patio. This action was ultimately not carried out.

Act 1 Cafeteria. Bar design as the main focal point of the space, painting of walls vertically and horizontally. change of lighting to a warm one, reconditioning of existing terrazzo flooring, renovation of rear bar support areas. Upon request, the existing furniture is incorporated into the proposal by adding a background of vegetation and curtains to the windows.

Act 2 Restaurant. On the second floor, it is a space articulated by two hinged spaces defined by two colours green and blue respectively, which act as a reception or private spaces as needed and two main ones, one for members that houses an immovable piece of furniture from the centre and the living room. main or dining room, both with a warm pastel colour interact with their intensely coloured kneecaps that guide the diner.

Act 3 Services. Located on the ground and second floors, both are used by all users of the floor, they required immediate intervention since they had been intervened in several periods and eclecticism was their rule. They are reorganized and covered with painted 3D mural panels, which constitute the dominant focus within the space, continuous micro-cement floors and walls, large mirrors, new sanitary fixtures and taps to give it lost elegance.

CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

Construction management on the cafeteria area on the ground floor, the men’s and women’s services located on the ground floor and second floor, where our team carried out the trades involved in its renovation; masonry, electricity, plumbing and painting.
